FAQs
Will there be a charge for recycling on my bill from Mountain Disposal?
No, this recycling program is at no-cost to our residential customers. There will be no charge on your bill for recycling and you do not pay for a recycling curbside tote. Charges for your regular trash pickup and curbside tote for weekly trash still apply.
Will I receive a separate curbside tote for my recyclable items?
Yes. Once you call our office to let us know you would like no-cost recycling services, one of our trucks will drop off a recycling curbside tote. We will deliver it to your home. You do not need to pick it up or arrange delivery.
What does ‘single-stream’ recycling mean?
Single-stream means you don’t have to separate the accepted recycling items. Paper, cardboard, plastic, and metal can all go in your curbside recycling tote together.
Why won’t residential recycling in Southern Colorado cost me anything?
This single stream recycling service is provided in conjunction with Circulation Action Alliance (CAA) of Colorado and funded through Colorado’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Program and Mountain Disposal.
Under the EPR program, companies that produce packaging and paper products help fund recycling systems throughout Colorado. This investment helps expand recycling infrastructure, improve recycling education, and bring recycling services to communities that previously did not have access.
What is EPR?
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a new Colorado recycling program designed to make recycling more accessible, affordable, and convenient for residents across the state while helping keep our state greener.
In simple terms, more households can recycle at no additional cost, helping reduce their ecological footprint and keep recyclable materials out of landfills. By making recycling easier and more accessible, the EPR program helps conserve natural resources, reduce waste, and protect Colorado’s beautiful environment for future generations.
Can I learn more about Colorado’s EPR program?
Yes, we invite you to learn more about Colorado’s EPR program by visiting Colorado’s official EPR program page.
Is no-cost recycling available for commercial properties?
No, Mountain Disposal offers no-cost recycling to eligible residential customers only. This recycling program is for only for households.
